We are looking for talented Underwriting Assistants to join our Operations Department supporting the Everest Specialty Underwriters Division that underwrites products across Management and Professional Liability, Surety, Credit and Political Risk, and Alternative Solutions. Underwriting Assistants are crucial to our business and they are responsible for the management and processing of multiple assigned portfolios of business as well as coaching and mentoring team members and participating in divisional priorities as needed. We have multiple positions open for underwriting assistants and senior underwriting assistants.  The positions are hybrid and can be located in any of the following offices: Warren, NJ, Philadelphia, PA, Atlanta, GA, Chicago, IL, Houston, TX, or Orange, CA.

Major Responsibilities:    

  • Review and analyze incoming transactions and provide UW with detailed information to ensure completeness accuracy and quality. 
  • Proficiently process multi-line new business submissions, renewal submissions and endorsements processing including rating, policy construction and assembly in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Manage underwriting relationships with timely responses relative to service inquiries. 
  • Maintain all correspondence activity with internal and external customers including daily diaries on pending transactions.
  • Gather and analyze underwriting information including experience reports, final audits, loss control reports, financial reports, loss runs, and FEINs.

Competencies:

  • Excellent desk management, written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Excellent comfort level with developing rapport with business partners, underwriters, agents and co-workers by phone, email or in person. 
  • Ability to prioritize competing demands and requests to complete work, including supporting other team members, within required time constraints with a high volume of work.   
  • Proficient analytical skills and mathematical aptitude. 
  • Proficient knowledge of underwriting principles, multiple product specific coverages, policy forms, pricing tools, regulatory compliance and insurance systems.
  • The ability to work in a team environment and handle multiple deadlines with ease. 
  • Self-starter that is energized by independent learning and research. 

Education and Experience:  

  • Relevant work experience in Insurance industry required.
  • Proficient in MS Office, with exceptional skills in Microsoft Excel.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience for underwriting assistants and minimum 5 years’ experience for senior underwriting assistants
