Description
Role OverviewThis position sits within a specialist credit risk function focused on hedge funds and real money funds across the EMEA region. The role centres on evaluating new counter-parties, managing credit exposures, and ensuring disciplined portfolio oversight aligned with defined risk appetite.
The successful candidate will play a key role in strengthening underwriting standards, enhancing efficiency, and partnering closely with internal stakeholders across geographies.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead due diligence discussions and perform detailed credit assessments of hedge funds and real money funds.
- Underwrite and onboard new counter-parties in line with internal risk frameworks.
- Monitor portfolio exposures against established limits, triggers, and stress scenarios.
- Review and approve credit decisions within delegated authority.
- Ensure adherence to credit risk appetite and escalate material concerns where appropriate.
- Contribute to the ongoing refinement of underwriting practices and risk evaluation processes.
- Collaborate with business teams and regional counterparts to support client coverage and risk management objectives.
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in counter-party risk management, particularly with hedge funds and real money funds.
- Strong expertise in due diligence, credit analysis, and on-boarding processes.
- Solid understanding of financial products and the key drivers of credit risk exposure.
- Confident communicator, comfortable engaging with both clients and senior internal stakeholders.
- Experience negotiating legal documentation such as ISDA/CSA, GMRA, and GMSLA agreements.
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and capable of balancing independent work with collaborative teamwork.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related discipline; advanced degrees are advantageous.
- Professional certifications such as CFA or FRM are preferred.
- Good working knowledge of risk measurement, reporting, and modelling techniques.
- Familiarity with financial analysis tools and risk management systems.
- Understanding of relevant regulatory frameworks governing credit and counter-party risk.
